On February 21, 2026 Literary Club of SGGS college of Education Kamlooh celebrated International Mother Language Day with calligraphy competition to promote linguistic diversity, in line with the UNESCO theme of “youth-led, inclusive multilingual education”.
Event showcased regional scripts i.e Punjabi, English, Hindi to foster cultural appreciation. Students submitted calligraphy pieces featured quotes, poetry and story in their mother tongue. Neha( B.Ed 4th semester) bagged the first position in English calligraphy contest while Janvi ( B.Ed 4th semester) secured 2nd position and Kavita ( B.Ed 4th semester), Satveer (D.El.Ed 1st Year) jointly secured 3rd Position respectively. In Punjabi calligraphy, Sunaina (B.Ed 4th semester) was declared the winner. Taniya ( B.Ed 4th semester) secured 2nd position while Pallavi Kumari ( B.Ed 4th semester) secured 3rd position. In Hindi calligraphy, Bakshish Choudhary (B.Ed 4th semester) secured 1st position , Tanu ( B.Ed 4th semester) secured 2nd position while Kajal (D.El.Ed 1st Year) secured 3rd position. Respected Principal Dr. Ranju Bala congratulated all the creative winners and participants for their remarkable calligraphy which beautifully showcased dedication to cultural heritage through art.
The competition successfully highlighted the importance of preserving native languages while fostering a sense of pride in cultural identity
